randomactsofchaos:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - House of Representatives will include approval of a Canada-to-Texas pipeline in a payroll tax cut bill, House Speaker John Boehner said on Thursday, raising the political stakes on the issue.

As I read this story I remember discussing the possiblity of this in my biology class in college. It excites me that this is happening so close. The University of Texas has opened a new center at the J.J. Pickle research center that could provide new solutions in how to harvest the power of algae for fuel.
Just off a dirt road in northwest Austin stand hundreds of 12-foot-tall tubes filled with...

Power your House with your Car?! Well Nissan... →
This may not be so far fetched take a look:
What if you could buy power at night, when it’s cheap, and run your house off it by day, when it’s expensive (and, in Japan at least, in short supply)? Nissan wants to give customers who buy its Nissan Leaf just this ability, by selling them special chargers for their electric cars that can be reversed to feed power back into a home.
The...

Fish farm is not the solution for overfishing →
Time Magazine:
This article is alarming. I agree that overfishing is a pressing issue that needs our immediate attention but aquaculture is certainly not the answer to this problem. There is a whole list of shortcomings when it comes to producing fish in controlled condition.
1. Animal Cruelty
There is nothing natural or humane about captivity. Plus, the conditions the fishes are stored in is...
